McCain Legally NOT on Texas Ballot?

quick diary, but check out Bob Barr's site, it seems since both Obama and McCain chose their running mates so late, they both did not register for the Texas ballot in time. Bob Barr is now trying to get the state to offically recognize that both men cannot legally be on the Texas Ballot!

the diary,

This evening I received a response from the Texas Secretary of State's office to my request for the certification papers of both John McCain and Barack Obama.

The certification deadline which passed at 5 p.m. on August 26th - before the nomination of Barack Obama and even before John McCain selected a running mate - was clearly missed by both major party candidates.

Our campaign manager, Russell Verney, transmitted a letter to the Secretary of State's office this evening after we obtained the documents which you can view here.

In the letter, we made our stance clear:

The Democratic Party, and Mr. Obama and the Republican Party and Mr. McCain blatantly ignored the Texas statutory deadline.

Therefore, the Libertarian candidate for president, Bob Barr, as represented by his principal campaign committee, Bob Barr 2008, demands that your office keep the names of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, John McCain and Sarah Palin off the Texas general election ballot.

Failure of the Secretary of State to comply with Texas law will result in serious legal consequences.

Please take a look at the attachments linked above, give us a hand in getting this story out.

I agree this story needs to get out, if John McCain did not file in time then he should NOT be on that Ballot and unless the story gets out you know the GOP will use under handed tricks to get him on.

NEWSFLASH: Unemployment hits above 6%!!!

Today the latest figures of unemployment were released, and folks things are continuing to not look good.

Republican Party: Openly Racist.

With each passing day the rhetoric of the Republicans are becoming more and more openly racist. They have shed all efforts to even hide their racism. This is the naked face of conservatism.

No Heart

An open letter to HEART.

I am just livid.  This is the absolute last line that has got crossed.  I, like many millions, couldn't wait to hear the song "Barracuda" play for Governor Palin, an exciting gesture to link with her fighting spirit and her nickname of years past.

Dating myself-no doubt that I knew of this song already before being played last night at the Republican's Convention.  But shocked to have learned in this mornings news, that HEART has asked the McCain/Palin campaign to stop playing their song, or for that matter, any of your music, because Governor Palin has different political positions than the music group of Heart

John McCain's Earmarks

This will be quick and I will delete once I get an answer.  I am tryin to make a list of John McCain's and his earmarks. Does anyone know how to search for these items?

Taking McCain's POW Experience "Lightly"

Someone on a this blog accused me of borrowing from the Republican playbook by "making light" of McCain's POW experience and torture with the phrase "...languished, lamentably, tortured in a POW camp, while John Kerry earned those Purple Hearts in combat."

My response was as follows:

As the daughter of a man who was killed in Vietnam, I do not take lightly ANYONE's service in war. Ever. As the daughter of a man who was killed in Vietnam, I do not take lightly ANYONE's service in war. Ever.

I do, however, take seriously and personally the outrageous mockery and derision THEY heaped upon John Kerry's bravery and honourable service in that same war.

LANGUISHING in a POW camp is NOT something to be taken lightly.

Todd Palin's biz partner moves to seal divorce papers (UPDATED)

This is a developing story which may or may not have legs, but it's worth keeping an eye on it.  From Andrew Sullivan today:

Here We Go

Todd Palin's former business partner files an emergency motion to have his divorce papers sealed. Oh God.

The link to the docket where the motion is listed isn't responding right now - presumably because of server overload.

UPDATE: So if you can get the link above to load, you'll see that the "Motion to Make Case File Confidential" has already been denied. Presumably this means we'll see whatever's in it. As I say, this may be nothing. But worth paying attention to.

McCain the victim. Palin the liberator.

John McCain was a prisoner of war for five years.  We have heard McCain's story of that time over and over and over.  In point of fact, McCain's consistent reminders that he was a prisoner of war -- including his riposte to reporters that although he owns seven houses now he had none during the five years of his prisonhood -- are becoming nothing more than signs of victimhood.
